Vacation #1: 5/11 to 6/2/10: Germany and Mediterranean Cruise

Hello blog friends. I have been very remiss in keeping up with the blog. DeeDee and I went on the most amazing, fun, and fulfilling three-week vacation trip, which included a two-week stay with Hanna and her family at their home in Schopflenberg, Germany and while there, we also took a 7-day Mediterranean cruise on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. I took SOOOOOOO many pictures, both in Germany and on the cruise. I think the best way to show you our vacation trip will be to do a series of separate blogs for each day or separate events during a day, in order to get as many photos and narrative in, without making each entry too long. DeeDee kept asking me what I was taking pictures of? Well, EVERYTHING was a photo opportunity, especially in Germany. The countryside was so beautiful, the little villages looked like jigsaw puzzle scenes, the food was wonderful, and the people were very friendly. We met Hanna's mom and dad, Sabine and Dieter; her brother David (pronounced Dahh vid); grandmother Anni Reisch- Dieter's mother; grand parents Eberhard and Gerte Eisele- Sabine's parents; and Beate Eisele and Reinhold Krüger - Sabine's sister and brother-in-law. It was fun to meet the family with whom I had exchanged emails while Hanna was with us for the 2008-09 school year. THE BIER (BEER) was fantastic, and no, that's not me in the wheelchair in the photo of the little village we were in - those folks just happened to becoming up the street when I took the photo.

So keep checking back and you will find new vacation adventures each day . . . . .
