Vacation #28: 5/26/10: Bodensee - Meersburg

I woke up a year older this morning, as it was my birthday. What a wonderful way to spend my birthday, in the company of my beautiful wife and the Reisch family in the middle of the vacation of a life time.

We left Wangen and drove through villages and side roads until we came to Meersburg on the northeast shore of Bodensee (Lake Constance). Bodensee is bordered by Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, with the German shoreline bordering the German Federal States of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Dieter bought tickets for the ferry that would take us to Insel Mainau (Mainau Island), which is across the lake almost on the northwest shore. We had time before the ferry trip to check out the lake front area of Meersburg, again falling in love with all the old buildings and architecture.

On Insel Mainau, we saw gardens galore, a wonderful butterfly exhibit (Abigail's favorite insect) and a garden railroad (Isaac's favorite thing of all). I took tons and tons of photos of the butterflys and trains so I could make separate CD's for Abigail and Isaac once we get home.
